Academic English

This programme guarantees entry to all academic Programmes and teaches grammar, common terms and expressions regularly used in academic subjects. This flexible programme is designed for students who need to improve their English before they embark on an academic programme in the UK.


GCSE Pathway Program

Our GCSE Pathway programme offers students from the age of 13 years an early opportunity to establish the language, learning and cultural skills they need to succeed in the highly competitive world of higher education. Learning with other students from all over the world, Bellerbys College helps children to become confident global citizens, backed by a tailor-made British education taught in a truly multicultural environment.


High School Term

By studying one or two terms of our GCSE Pathway or A Level programmes you can develop your English language skills whilst experiencing life in the UK.  This programme seamlessly continues your current studies so you can easily re-integrate in to your school back home after your time at Bellerbys.

Your experience will be further enhanced by a comprehensive and engaging programme of enrichment activities including trips, lectures, clubs and societies, awards and competitions that complement the main curriculum.

At the end of your studies we’ll present you with a full school report as a record of your achievements.

1 Year GCSE

The GCSE, or General Certificate of Secondary Education, is an important first step qualification on your path to university in the UK. Providing a fundamental grounding in a number of core subjects, the Bellerbys 1 Year GCSE programme is both efficient and intensive.


After successful completion of the 1 year GCSE course, international students can move straight into studying for Bellerbys’ unique Foundation programme, or directly onto the A Level course.


At Bellerbys College, you will be equipped with the skills and expertise needed to compete in the global jobs market. The 1 Year GCSE course has been developed around the core subjects of English (studied for between 10-15 hours per week) and mathematics. In addition, each student will choose four elective subjects to study.


A levels

Study for the UK's gold standard in university entrance exams.


The progressive A Levels programme taught at Bellerbys helps you achieve the grades you need to enroll at one of the UK's leading universities. Our specialist centers ensure you get the best teaching and guidance tailored to your area of interest.


Study in Cambridge to prepare for a science or engineering degree. Our center in London, the capital of the UK, specializes in business, while Oxford is focused on art, law and humanities. Nurturing international students to help them achieve their educational aspirations and prepare for a bright future, Bellerbys Brighton is a modern interpretation of an English boarding school.


While we encourage you to choose subjects you enjoy, we recommend the following choices in preparation for specific degree areas:


·         For Scientists and Engineers: Four subjects chosen from Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.


·         For Business, Humanities and Law students: Four subjects chosen from Maths, Economics, Accounting, Business Studies, English Literature, History, Politics, Sociology and Psychology.


University Foundation

A one-year programme designed for international students looking for UK university entry. Designed for motivated students looking for a supported and focused bridge programme from international high school to UK universities.


Bellerbys Foundation Courses cover a full spectrum of academic pathways into a choice of over 70 UK universities.


Choose from eleven subject specialisms leading to a wide range of degree options:

·         Art and Design; Business,

·         Finance and Management;

·         Business with Law;

·         Business with Marketing;

·         Chemical Engineering;

·         Engineering and Computer Science;

·         Humanities;

·         Law;

·         Management and Computing Systems;

Undergraduate Year 1 in Business Management

This three term course, validated by the University of Sussex, is equivalent to the 1st year of an undergraduate degree, and is designed for academically qualified students seeking to maximize their potential with the opportunity for direct entry to 2nd year study at a top UK university. Bellerbys philosophy is based on helping the widest range of students in the most effective way possible. The college prides itself on its innovative courses which help students gain admission to some of the most prestigious universities in the UK.


Pre-Master courses

If you’re planning on undertaking a Master’s degree, you may want to ensure that you make the very best of your financial outlay. Bellerbys College offers a unique, Pre-Masters course which combines English language training, research, presentation and study skills with optional GMAT classes.

Bellerbys College have a long-standing reputation for success in this area, and over the past 15 years, many students have gone on to attain places on a number of MBA, MSc and MA Programmes at over 50 of the UK’s most eminent universities. Having taken an undergraduate degree, students can apply to any UK university depending on their final grade. By studying a Pre-Masters course in the UK, you can ensure you are fully prepared for the wider world of work.

With students from all over the world you will have the chance to experience UK culture first hand, improve your study skills, make new friends and discover some of our most exciting cities and attractions.

Bellerbys Summer is open to students aged between 14 and 17 years of age. We provide a mix of academic and creative taster sessions and English study (English study at Brighton, Cambridge and London) as follows:

Entry requirements:A good academic reference from a former school and IELTS 4.5 or equivalent. If you do not meet these requirements you can first study our Pre-GCSE programme (available at Brighton only).


A levels

Academic entry requirements

To study A Levels at Bellerbys College you will need the equivalent to five GCSE passes at Grade C or above in appropriate subjects. Contact our team of expert Student Enrolment Advisers to find out if your qualifications meet the entry requirements.

English language requirements

To study A Levels at Bellerbys College in the UK you will need to demonstrate an English language level equivalent to the following:

·         IELTS 5.5 for 5 or 6-term option, 6.0 for 3-term option, TOEFL 550 (196 computer based test)

·         Pearson Test of English Academic 48-51

·         GCSE English Language grade A-C

Note: Depending on the type of visa you are entering the UK on you may take the Study Group English Test to determine your English language level.

University Foundation

                Key facts…

Age:Students are normally 16.5 or over

Academic: Must have completed secondary or high school in a related field to a satisfactory level.Contact our team of expert Student Enrolment Advisers to find out if your qualifications meet the entry requirements the subject of your choice.

English Language

UKVI IELTS 4.5 or above overall and no less than 4.0 in any component.


Undergraduate Year 1 in Business Management

Academic entry requirements

To study the Undergraduate Year 1 in Business & Management you will need one of the following:

·         Completion of Senior High School (and, in some countries, evidence of a further year’s study)

·         2 A Level Passes (not including native languages and not AS passes), Bellerbys Foundation or equivalent

English language requirements

To study the Undergraduate Year 1 programme you will need to demonstrate an English language level equivalent to the following:

·         IELTS 5.5 TOEFL 513 (computer test equivalent 183) with a minimum of 5.0 in writing

·         Pearson Test of English Academic 48-51

If you possess an English language level of IETS 4.5 or equivalent you may study the Combined Foundation and Undergraduate Year 1 programme. Depending on the type of visa you are entering the UK on you may take the Study Group English Test to determine your English language level.

Pre-Master courses

                Academic entry requirements

To study the Pre-Masters you will need the following:

·         A good first degree (any subject for MBA and other 'conversion' courses).

·         Two or three years work experience is normally required for MBA programmes.


English language requirements: 1 term Pre-Masters

You will need to demonstrate an English language level equivalent to the following:

·         IELTS 5.5 TOEFL 513 (computer test equivalent 183)

·         Pearson Test of English Academic 48-51

English language requirements: 2 term Pre-Masters

You will need to demonstrate an English language level equivalent to the following:

·         IELTS 4.5 TOEFL 477 (computer test equivalent 153)

·         Pearson Test of English Academic 40-43

Depending on the type of visa you are entering the UK on you may take the Study Group English Test to determine your English language level.

Bellerbys Summer courses

Key facts:

Age:14-17: Students wishing to attend Bellerbys Summer at Cambridge or Oxford must be aged 16 years and older

Course length:2 or 4 weeks (depending on location)

Entry requirements:IELTS 3.5

Fees:£950 per week inclusive of tuition fees, full board accommodation, activities and excursions. Please note that there is a £170 non-refundable enrolment fee payable in addition to the weekly fee.

Please note that airport transfer fees are not included.

Accommodation:We offer an all-inclusive residential package at our Brighton, London and Oxford colleges.  In Cambridge we offer an all-inclusive homestay accommodation package.

Money back:we offer full refunds on Bellerbys Summer fees for students who pay for and enroll on to one of our A Level or Foundation programmes in September 2016 or in 2017.


University Destination

Every year Bellerbys College helps A Level, Foundation and Undergraduate Year 1 students win places at the very best UK universities into their desired courses. The table below shows the number of our students that progressed to each of the universities in the 2016 Times/Sunday Times University League Tables. Those universities with UG1 are Undergraduate Year 1 partner universities.
